Values Education
St John the Baptist prides itself on its strong Christian ethos which underpins all of school life.
Values Education is embedded into all areas of the curriculum. Each half term the school focuses on a different Christian Value and explores this through explicit Values lessons and through Collective Worship. At the end of each half term the teachers nominate a child as the Values Champion for their class.
Our aim is for children to understand and be able to identify and articulate the importance of values in their own lives, now and in the future.
Our Values are: Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, Respect, Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness,
Our value this half term is:
Generosity

When we think about generosity we usually think about being generous with money or possessions. However, we can also be generous with our time, our gifts and our abilities. Generous people often say that they receive much more than they give. Perhaps this is because when someone is generous to us, to makes us want to be generous in return. The opposite of being generous is being selfish.
What kind of person would you prefer to have as a friend?
