Travelling to School
Due to the location of the school, situated along narrow country lanes, vehicle access to school is difficult and we strongly recommend walking to and from school with your child. Parents driving arrive and depart within a relatively short time period which leads to considerable congestion and puts pedestrians walking along Hillside Lane, from the direction of Cautherly Lane, in danger.
We recognise that it may not be possible for all parents and children to walk the full distance of their journey to or from school and in this instance we suggest people “Park and Stride”. This means parking in a safe area, a distance from the school, and completing your journey on foot or by scooter. Below are some suggested areas to park.
Not only is walking your child to school a more practical and safe solution to our transport difficulties, but walking to school has been shown to help children perform better throughout the school day as thy arrive alert, energised and demonstrate a better understanding of their local surroundings. Walking also allows parents to chat to each other and get to know members of the school community from across the classes, as well as spending time talking to your child about their day.
Thank you for supporting us in developing safer journeys to school.
