Thursday: Carisbrooke Castle and Shanklin Chine
The children excitedly explored the ramparts of Carisbrooke Castle, imagining what it would be like to defend a castle from an invading enemy. There were a lot of stairs to climb - but we made it!
After visiting the museum, and seeing where King Charles I was held prisoner, we enjoyed our lunch on the bowling green and had time to run around.
Late afternoon was spent exploring Shanklin Chine and a long coastal walk back to the hotel. We made a stop off for Ice Cream (those who wanted to, and had saved their money) and a play on the Beach.
It was then time to head back to the hotel to get ready for the night's main event: the disco.

Wednesday: Amazon World, Alum Bay Glass Workshop and a visit from a story teller
Another gloriously sunny day. We set off for Amazon World, arriving just as they opened and the animals were coming out to play. The Red Panda was trying his best to hide from us, but was no match for our eagle eyed Year 5 and 6 children. We had a fun walk through Lemur enclosure and learnt lots of information from their keeper. the sloths and tortoises were firm favourites. The meerkats were making the most of th good weather and sun bathing.
After lunch and time to play in the adventure playground, we set off across the island to Alum Bay. The children were fascinated as they watch a demonstration by the glass blowers and learnt how glass was made and blown into different objects.
A picturesque journey back across the island provided exciting views of the island's coast and valleys.
After dinner, Holly the story teller came to tell exciting stories that form part of the island's traditions.

Tuesday: Whippingham Church, Osborne House, Steam Railway
Today we immersed ourselves in Victorian life. We started off at Whippingham Church, where Queen Victoria worshipped. The guide was very impressed with how much the children knew about the queen, and said they were the most knowledgable school who had visited in 2026.
Then it was off to Osborne House. The children were fascinated with the size and grandeur of the place, enjoying gliding down the sweeping staircase. We had lunch and then enjoyed playing on the playground before heading to the gift shop.
After that, we boarded the coach and visited the Isle of Wight steam railway. We learnt how the railway developed across the island before boarding the train for an exciting ride.
Returning to Sandown, we went off to the beach for a paddle and some games.

Monday: Portsmouth and the Ferry
We had a clear run down to Portsmouth historic dockyards. After enjoying lunch in the sun, we toured HMS Victory. We learnt the ship held 821 sailors, and the youngest sailors on borad were 9 years old. Then we visited the Mary Rose and experienced what it would have been like to be on board the day the ship sank.
After that we travelled across to the Isle of Wight. After having a look around the rooms, we enjoyed a quick trip to the beach.
